a recent thread ( http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/139118/1.ashx ) raised the issue of charles taze russell not being the first president of the watchtower... it appears to be an argument of semantics because the society had a different name (as one poster pointed out in the thread).
the watchtower society obviously has some embarassment over this issue because the amendments to the revelation book dealt with this :.

an idea came to mind regarding the topic of baptism.
i'm still working out (in my mind) a way to convince those around me are not in the one true religion that it sets itself up to be.
i have to think of a clever and subtle way to bring up baptism, (since they are baptised) and it cannot be in a way that seems threatening or like i am trying to create an argument.

I have to think of a clever and subtle way to bring up baptism, (since they are baptised) and it cannot be in a way that seems threatening or like I am trying to create an argument. I have to somehow show evidence of the WTS changing the questions and not even baptizing people in the way that should be done according to biblical sense. How would this be done? I pulled up the sets of questions (2 questions that are generally asked at the baptismal) that have changed from 1966, 1970, 1973, 1985. If I decide to show them to my friends how would I do that? Would they take the time to look at them?
Also, when JW's are taught about baptismal are they taught that it should not be done in the name of any organization? Also are they taught that it should be done in the name of the Father, Son , and Holy Spirt?

This section talks about sharing information via e-mails or public chat rooms.
You may have or may not have seen this already, but I thought I'd share.
after you read that, if you click "back' on the bottom of the page you'll find a long list of other information there.
what is the best way to have a bible study without the use of watchtower or awake magazines, just with the bible itself?
is the best way to just read a book of the bible and study that or read a chapter of a book, or word (topic).
then once you figure what you want to do, what is the best way to break it down.
That is one of the bibles I bought when it was on sale. I do like it a lot, a bit bulky but has a lot of info. I haven't checked out the ISV. Is that version pretty accurate?
i posted this in another thread, but i thought it would merit a thread.
the elders in our cong.
likened missing a memorial to an "unforgivable sin".
aww, no mic holding? Cant count the money? And no reading aloud? Geez, they take a lot a way? What a shame! NOT!!
Sounds more of a type of control. I think they just want to know a persons business.
about the memorial in feb?
(correct me if incorrect please) what exactly is it being remembered; jesus death, resurrection, birth?
i'm still trying to understand all this; not for debats but for understanding and getting my family to understand certain areas that they may not realize is incorrect (when it is truly incorrect).
All this great information. I enjoy reading every bit of it. I like getting a feel for what it was like with those actually who were in the religion. Maybe one of these days I can be take information and will be able to share with those around me, in a way that does not seem like I am attacking.

Thank you for sharing. Personally I a few variations of bibles. So I know how expense it can start to get. What I do is wait a bit for a coupon at the christian bookstore and buy a 50 or 60 dollar bible for 30 dollars. Learning the word of God should not cost that much. I do have NIV and NLT and NKJV and KJV. I also think I have mac arthur study bible. It is brown in color. I do like the essays that they have in there. I try not to read them too much into them until I know I have a better understanding, which I don't think I am 100 % there yet. Soon I will feel like I have an understanding that I am comfortable with so I too can share the word with my loved ones.
Thanks again for your reply.
i post under a different name on this forum, but there are some people that read this site that know who i am in person, so i am posting under a different alias so as not to get myself in hot water.. .

in a church!
hehehe I know who you are. :-)
did antone notice that the km insert doesn't display the upcoming district assembly theme?
what do you think it will be?
The district assembly is where they spend 3 days listening to stuff that they will not remember once they get back to their cars, right?
Is anyone planning on going to this? I am curious to know, they also do the baptismals here too, correct?
Would anyone be willing to listen to the questions to see if they have changed since 1985?
